TypicalPropertiesSearch

Wyomissing, Pa. (July 7, 2010) – Carpenter Technology Corp., Wyomissing, Pa. (CRS:NYSE), announces significant enhancements to its free, comprehensive online technical information database, which allows design engineers, material specifiers, educators and other users to easily research alloys, compare data, perform sophisticated searches and access other valuable information on hundreds of specialty alloys.

Carpenter’s continued commitment to technological advances is demonstrated by the expansion of the tech info database and the value that the 50,000 plus registrants garner from the free database at www.cartech.com.

Carpenter’s online technical information database, launched in November 2000, is the only database of its kind that is available free of charge.

With the database’s recent upgrade:

  • Material property searches are more interactive. There are added sliding numeric ranges for all 11 alloy properties and real-time results as the sliders are moved. This lets users to quickly see how their search impacts other properties.
  • Users can request more information. By clicking within the results table or any datasheet, users can request a quote or metallurgical support via e-mail through a form that matches the fields in the Request Quote/E-mail Us link on the website.
  • Datasheet results tables are more robust. Users are able to e-mail five datasheets directly from the results table via convenient checkboxes. Also, a hover box over each alloy name allows the user to e-mail that datasheet or complete the Request More Information form.

Other additions include a blog of frequently asked questions answered by Carpenter’s regional metallurgists, e-newsletters with content geared toward engineers and component designers, a Carpenter mill tour video, additional Materials 101 glossary content, and conversion tables that include temperature and Rockwell hardness scales and steel bar and strip weight calculators.

The database also has a new Technical Solutions section that includes more than 50 technical articles and PowerPoint presentations developed by Carpenter’s technical staff, sorted by category.
